If that's how the league feels open up the polls and let's talk this through. I am looking to become a contender this season. A few lucky wins and strong weeks have my team in a nice position. Colorado is into a major rebuild and could use every piece of this deal.
We honestly thought this was going to be thought of as a smart hockey trade with two teams going in different directions.

Colorado is in a complete rebuild mode after how beat up my roster was when taking over the team. Through this trade I gain 2 players that will be added to my keeper list, plus 3 prospects I'm high on with 2 already being NHL ready and finally I moved up in the waiver draft.

Would a GM looking to do a total rebuild not shop one of the top 5 tendies in the league before trading him to his good bud for a concussed Ericsson, a top 25 goalie and a couple of maybes?

That's not at all what happened here. Mike has been pouring over rosters and prospects trying to build his team from the scraps left over. He approached me and built pretty much the entire package. It shows he is committed to building a team that can contend in this league and that he plans on staying around for awhile.
