Just woke up to this news. So tragic. Iām open to pause here and let Chris make a replacement selection before I follow up with my pick. Very close to me we recently lost a dear friend and hockey player as well. Ryan Held passed away a week ago. Former New Jersey Devil and played European pro hockey for years. To many young hockey players tragically losing their lives.

Before I pick, I have a story I hope you guys enjoy. Around 2012 I got my first teaching job at a golf course in Hamilton, Ontario. The director's name was Rick. He was a larger than life, funny, super caring guy... and he happened to be Sean Monahan's uncle. We bonded over hockey and golf for several years. He always talked about Sean and was so pumped he got drafted by Calgary. When Gaudreau signed, he would always tell stories about how close Monahan and Gaudreau were. How much chemistry they had on the ice, and just what great people outside of hockey Gaudreau and Monahan were. My heart is with Gaudreau's family and friend's, teammates, old acquaintance's affected by his passing The Colorado Avalanche are very proud to select with their 24th and 25th picks, Noah Hanifin and Sean Monahan.
