The San Jose Sharks assign (D) David Jiricek (18/0)* to Worcester. The San Jose Sharks assign (LW) Liam Öhgren (18/0)* to Worcester. The San Jose Sharks assign (D) Mattias Hävelid (18/0)* to Worcester. A note about accents on names, it's probably preferable to drop them when adding these players to the big list of prospects just so other managers are able to find them, I put the accents because of how they appear on Elite Prospects as well as to show respect to the player. David Jiricek has a bunch of accents on his name but they list his main name without them and have the name with accents as an a.k.a.

Wow, the names actually get searched properly (on Firefox) with the accents! I swear it wasn't like that in the past, coool!

The San Jose Sharks place (LW,RW) Seth Jarvis on IR+. Placing Jarvis on IR+ during the offseason when we don't even have IR+ spots yet still isn't going to free up a roster spot.

What might be tripping you up is that you mistakenly listed my roster at 18/19 spots filled when it's actually 17/19? With Voracek & Hanifin left to occupy spots, placing Jarvis on IR+ would make room for Farabee. I only did this because you've placed Pacioretty on your IR+ on your roster page some time ago, you've also done this in the past utilizing the IR in the off-season and placing the drafted player directly on IR even without space to first occupy a roster spot. Had you not done this I wouldn't have, I'm following your lead! Also, if the IR+ isn't going to be utilized I will make adjustments, I was under the impression it was to be implemented.

Pacioretty is listed on my IR for organizational purposes only. I still have him listed as occupying a roster spot. Hence the 19/19 listed on the Senators roster. If the league wants to allow utilizing the IR/IR+ spots during the off-season then I am all for it, but it is something that hasn’t really been discussed.

It may not have been discussed but the precedent was set by you in 2018. You used the IR to roster Shea Weber in the Off-Season. Not only did you use the IR but you were at roster capacity when you drafted him and placed him directly on IR. I brought it up at the time and you did not want to change anything. It was the first instance of the IR being utilized in the Off-Season that I can recall. You claimed it was not manipulation of the rules but rather a formality of Yahoo opening. Personally I still believe we should be able to go over roster limits in the Off-Season with draft picks until a 'Final Roster Submission' is made. I've said this in the past plenty of times, we used to operate in this way and I preferred it, similar to how teams are over cap or over roster limits in the Off-Season in the NHL until final moves are made.

^ Looking into this further I actually have some of the details wrong, it appears you traded for Weber and still placed him on IR during the Off-Season, the extra roster spot had something to do with Keller but it appears to be a separate thing that you made a move to accommodate. Nevertheless, the point stands with using the IR spot in the Off-Season to roster Weber.

Where did we come to using an IR+ spot during this season? Because it seems we left it at 'as long as enough people are on board.'. I see on yahoo there are 2 IR and 1 IR+. I believe that's too many and thought we fell on 1 each.
I think this is where we should stray from the NHL and not have IR in the offseason. Sure the NHL allows teams roster flexibility based on salary cap and LTIR but seeing that we're not dealing in a cap league I think having to wait till the season to make those moves is fine. If someone wants to use a draft pick to choose an IR player, fine. But I'm not on board them being allowed on IR keeping a roster spot open. It's almost like being rewarded for having or drafting an injured player. It's also different for real NHL teams. For example Pacioretti is on IR in Carolina but McAvoy and Marchand aren't on Boston's IR even thought its been known since July they are missing up to 2 months of the season. So Id vote no, but we should do a league vote it.

A league vote would be fine but the outcome could only be applied for next season and beyond. If Derrick did it successfully 4 years ago I don't see why I shouldn't be able to do it as well. I honestly don't even see the problem with it, if we were drafting on Yahoo I would be able to do it, I'm following how Yahoo is set up and whether I would be able to do it there. I don't see the 'reward' for having an injured player, it's just another way to stay ahead of the game and to be prepared and protect against inevitable future injuries.
