Commissioner Rankings
1. Ottawa (1)
Yearly league totals: 3rd/Goals, 1st/Assists, 1st/PPP, 2nd/GWG, 3rd/SOG, 2nd/Wins, 3rd/SV%, but for the first time ever, dead last in +/- (-30).
2. Minnesota (2)
After a year long ascension, Minnesota will have to keep dreaming of that elusive #1 spot. Halak has been disastrous in net these past two weeks (21 GA/5 GP/1 Win) while adding insult injury by doing this. Still remains NAFHL's most versatile team, but with a balanced offense, success lies in net.
3. Detroit (3)
Goal tending continues to be an issue early on (only 12 wins on the year), due to injuries and suckery, but down on the farm sits Jimmy Howard (11 wins). Even though he has two first names, he trails only Carey Price and Michael Neuvirth in wins (12). 37 PTS, 38 PIMS, 14 PPP, 2 SHP, 129 SOG with a healthy team in Week 7. Yeah.
4. Carolina (4)
Leads the league in Goals (88), SHP (9!), and SOG (836). Niklas Backstrom = 8W, 2.11 GAA, .932 SV% carrying the load while Miller deals with a nagging groin injury. Richards = 10 PTS/ Last 6 GP. Patrik Sharp leads the league in SOGS (97).
5. San Jose (5)
7 goals in last 5 games. 10 goals in last 8 games. These are the numbers for Iginla and Nash respectively, yet San Jose sits dead last in the standings. Lets see what Quick can do with the promotion to help the struggling Sharks in net. Sidney Crosby owns nearly 20% of all Sharks assists (11th in the league) this season (107). Skinner = 1 PT/ Last 5 GP
6/7. Boston (6)
NAFHL darkhorse. Top 5 in every offensive category. Easily a top 5 team overall with goal tending depth. However, an injury and/or any regression in play from Carey Price and this team misses the playoffs. Hossa = 11 PTS/ First 7 GP; Since - 6 PTS/ 11 GP. Let's see what a healthy Savard can do for this team.
7/6. Calgary (7)
Claude Giroux is fantastic (Past 2 weeks = 9 PTS, +4, 3 PPP, 1 SHP, 21 SOG). Do not be surprised to see his name on the NAFHL MVP ballot sooner rather than later. With that said, Giroux cant play goal. Fleury has picked it up but still owns a sparkling .887 SV%. So, of Zenon Konopka's 9 SOGS (20 GP) on the year (1 SOG/ 2 Weeks) he would stop roughly 7.9948 of them.
8. Washington (8)
Only team in NAFHL without 100 assists on the year (99). The acquisition of Anze Kopitar should help with that, and should should boost Goals (10th), PPP (11th), and SOG (10th) too. Only team in NAFHL without a 9+ goal scorer.
9. Toronto (10)
The Thomas Maple Leafs sit atop the league having scored 64 total goals on the year, 20 by one man. Stamkos has more goals than Erat, Boyle, Bolland, Johnson, Duchene, Giordano, Kaberle, Carcillo, and Samuelsson combined with 3 to spare. Leads the league in goalie stats and its not even close (1.79 GAA, .939 SV%), but 6th or worse in every single offensive category.
10. Anaheim (9)
Leads the league in GWG (17). But trigger happy Anaheim has seen a rash of sweeping changes over the past couple weeks that might alter that. Kessel (3 GWG) and Kovalchuk (2 GWG) out, Richards, Havlat, Eriksson in. Also new is Turco (2.83, .906%) who looks to stabilize the only goal tending unit in NAFHL above 3 GA (3.08).
11. Atlanta (11)
8/11. While this might resemble a typical Pascal Leclaire stat line, it is in fact the ratio of traded players to forum posts for new Thrashers GM Tyler. Puzzling is the departure of Turco (which pretty much concedes making the playoffs), but this offense is really taking shape. With an efficient Waiver Draft in 2011, this is playoff team. Do not sleep on Logan Couture.
12. Colorado (12)
Don't look now, but a superstar forward has returned to Montreal/Colorado. Not to be confused with former captain Daniel Alfredsson, Ilya Kovalchuk compliments the wealth of youth Colorado possesses on its farm. Could the 5 year rebuild finally materialize? Colorado is 11th/12th in every single offensive category except +/-
