It's that time of year again. With the conclusion of the trade-deadline, the NAFHL playoffs are right around the corner. Most all of you are familiar with the Weekly Power Rankings that were available last season, but in 2012-2013 I have decided to expound upon those. So for the first time ever, instead of ranking teams based on my opinion/surface statistics, I have designed an intricate statistical tool that will predict which team has the best chance to win the championship/perform favorably this season based on the league settings. The team with the highest number has the better team based on the data. Scores are out of 10. The previous ranking is listed.
So without further adieu I introduce to you the NAFHL Weekly Power Rankings Poll, complete with the advanced power score.
Trade-Deadline Power Rankings
1.) San Jose Sharks (7.20) Pvs. 2 2.) Ottawa Senators (7.01) Pvs. 1 3.) Calgary Flames (6.45) Pvs. 3 4.) Anaheim Ducks (6.21) Pvs. 7 5.) Detroit Red Wings (6.18) Pvs. 5 6.) Colorado Avalanche (6.10) Pvs. 12 7.) Minnesota Wild (5.75) Pvs. 6 8.) Toronto Maple Leafs (5.72) Pvs. 4 9.) Carolina Hurricanes (5.43) Pvs. 9 10.) Winnipeg Jets (5.19) Pvs. 8 11.) Boston Bruins (5.12) Pvs. 11 12.) Washington Capitals (4.74) Pvs. 10
Note: Players on the farm and IR as 3/23/13 are not counting toward team power scores. Other IR/DTD Injuries and under/over-performing players not statistically accounted for.

So, the current 1st place team in the standings is considered the second worst team by your calculations? Seems legit to me...

Are you sure you didn't flip Boston and Anaheim?
Anaheim can't even set his lineup.

Anaheim can't even set his lineup. This should be grounds for removal, enough already, it's pathetic. I've noticed several managers not setting their lines throughout the year, it's even more ridiculous now because Yahoo implemented that automated 'players playing today' lines system this season.

So, the current 1st place team in the standings is considered the second worst team by your calculations? Seems legit to me... The above is pretty much a word for word explanation for your teams success thus far. "Thus far" being when Vanek was on pace for 175 points (82 game season), Marleau was on pace for 185 points, Kane was on pace for 130 points, and Conacher for 120 points. All of which are completely unsustainable, all of which have not been sustained, and all of which have reflected in your week to week performance. The first 5 weeks of the season you amassed 40 total points in the standings, since a paltry 22 (en route to being handled by both Ottawa and San Jose). The rankings are a system to determine future success, not what has already been achieved. As for Anaheim, outside of the first week (and this current week so far), it has never allowed an opponent more than 6 category wins in a single week. Consistency is key (although benching shutouts isn't helping its cause).

So, because I only lost twice this entire season (to playoff contenders like Ottawa & SJ), I'm ranked far behind a team that has only one total win (Anaheim) on the sole reason that they only lose by a little each week? That makes perfect sense now Also, I now realize that my 22 points these past four weeks means my team is terrible. Its a good thing your 21 points over the same time period means your team is good enough to be ranked 2nd overall... I think it was better when you could claim "personal opinion" as the reason for rankings controversy instead of the scientific "fact" of your calculations... It sounds like you're "rankings system" judges teams on everything EXCEPT for how they're actually performing this season! ;D PS I don't know about you, but I signed Conacher with the expectation of him regularly scoring 120 points. I won't make excuses for actually having faith in my players

Whatever that means.

I set my lineup for the entire week each Monday and usually tweak things here and there. Why my lineup didn't save yesterday is beyond me and I'm not at all happy that I didn't catch it. As for Nos and Robyn... Go f*** yourselves

Iginla to Pittsburgh? Hooooooooooow sweet it is! Feaster is so clueless. Surely he could have gotten more from someone else hell the rumored Boston deal was better than what he took.

I think the rumor is Boston was offering a better deal, but Iginla had a no trade clause. My guess is Feaster was an idiot & told him they could trade him to either team & Iggy picked Pittsburgh. If Feaster was smart, he should've said he only had a deal on the table with Boston & if Iggy said no, then tell him that Pittsburgh was interested. Pitt's lines are going to be scary though: Kunitz - Crosby - Iginla Morrow - Malkin - Neal (I guess Dupuis's career season is over!) PS Still, I think real-life will mirror NAFHL, though: Boston will come out on top this season!!!

I get the whole thing about Iggy having a no trade clause but if that's the case then Feaster should go to Pittsburgh and say Boston has an offer on the table of this can you beat it and then walk if they don't wait a few more days and contact the teams that you are able to deal with because you gave him the ridiculous NTC in the first place and try again. No need to move him last night when their was still a week away from the deadline. And the return is just pitiful 2 NCAA prospects and a 1st that will more than likely be 28,29,30 range. I just think the whole process could have been done better like maybe 3 years ago when it was clear that Calgary needed a rebuild and Iggy's value was even higher.

Just because something looks good on paper doesn't mean it will translate to real life on ice success. Too many superstars on one team can completely throw everything out of whack and turn into a failure of epic proportions. See: Colorado Avalanche 2002-2003 P.S. It won't be hard for NAFHL Boston to come out on top of NAFHL Pittsburgh this season, considering there is no longer a Pittsburgh franchise in NAFHL
