I don’t understand why free agent signings are allowed the day the matchup starts in the playoffs?? I thought rosters had to be set before it started?? Van adds Edler and drops Staal but gets to play him tonight? Should he not be sat because he’s not injured or part of the roster?

Ya i saw the same thing happen in my playoff matchup so i asked around.
Basically rosters get locked up until the first puck drop.
So within the rules you can get an extra start on that first day if you have a guy you can sign and then cut for another free agent.
Its greasy but it is allowed by the rules.

Thanks Kyle. Derrick am I allowed to replace Saad with an FA as he's listed as Out? Yes. But after the first puck drop of your fantasy playoff it would have to be a player who is currently on your farm. |

I realize it’s in the rules and that’s fine, but should definitely be addressed again in the off season. You aren’t rewarding the ‘best’ teams if the two teams with byes in the consolation can do the same thing. You should lock teams at the start of playoffs and teams with byes can only replace guys who get hurt in that first week or something. It should also be made that you have to add guys the Sunday night so you can’t grease an extra game out of someone. Isn’t fair that the bye teams can add a guy like Bishop and stash him on the IR as a potential keeper where as every other team can’t add him because he’s on waivers until after the start of playoffs.

It's also not 'fair' that you fleeced your buddy in a 'looks like collusion' style trade, his 1st trade, where your buddy wasn't even talking to anyone else about the players.

I don't even disagree with most of what you've said. I've wanted to look at this rule for a few years now. I'm just following the current set of rules. I think rosters should probably be locked for every team 3 days (Waiver window) before the start of the Playoffs. That way everyone has a fair shake at claiming players through the Waiver system. I've had it where GMs in the past have "blocked" my send down of a Waiver Wire farm player, and proceeded to drop them immediately after without myself even having the possibility of reclaiming them because the Playoffs have started. For the record, I'm also not gaining an extra start today. I simply chose Staal over Edler for today. Anyway, lots to talk about in the offseason. Good luck Mitch and everyone else in the Playoffs! I was talking to 2 other GMs about trades at the time. I offered Hamilton in a separate deal that got rejected. No one seemed to want to talk at the time, I didn't know any better. Maybe I should've been stern on getting tolvanen. My mistake. Maybe I should've just traded Tarasenko solo. But I live and learn. Since Tarasenko has come back, Hertl has been better. Hamilton has been good. Or maybe you're just mad you didn't 'fleece me' for Makar. |

Nah, what I offered for Makar was legit, it wasn't Hertl & Chytil for two superstars. Anyway, just pointing out the fact that many things can be picked apart and debated, things of much more importance and concern. You seem to recognize your mistake though and that's huge.

I am okay with the bye teams having the extra week to set their rosters for playoffs. All moves should have to be completed Sunday night though. Honestly I thought there would be a general respect among all of us that this was the case. Only a couple GM’s took advantage of this loophole the majority stuck to the integrity of the rule and timeline of the rosters being locked. It is what it is for this playoff run I don’t believe any move was something that is going to push any one team further along then others. Battle it out on the stats sheet from here and may the best team win.

Oh man, what a week! That shutout and shorthanded goal were devastating blows for sure! Both plays were challenged too, a goal scored on Grubauer was disallowed, and the shorty for Couture stood as well!!! You best believe I was watching that Lightning game praying for a Gourde +6 or a shorty! 🤣 Congrats on the victory Mitch, he beat me...straight up. Good luck to the Sharks and Ducks battling it out for the Stanley Cup!
