Hey guys, I'm going to post up the Entry & Waiver Draft boards soon so we can all at least get a visual, but thought I'd resurrect this thread in the meantime as there's some good dialogue discussing...
1. When a player loses Minor League eligibility. 2. Suspended Waivers
I figure while we wait for the glorious return of our Commissioner we can at least clarify these two rules to start.
As of right now, after "The Dawson Mercer Incident", we have been operating as the following...
1. A manager can recall a Minor Leaguer in the middle of their 201st NHL game. (ie. When Dawson Mercer was recalled earlier this season)
2. Suspended Waivers is in effect. Players will enter Suspended Waivers if they are left on their farm team after their 201st game is completed. Prospects will enter Suspended Waivers if they are left on their farm farm team.
Re-read this thread and let's start hashing out and resolving these rules first. Thanks fellas!

I think having the player dissappear into suspended waivers is a bit odd and not realistic.
They should definitely be available for pickup but I think they would need to be available for waivers or something similar.
Otherwise the timing of when you can actually claim them becomes so muddled and turns into a Mario party mini game of dont click to early or to late.
But once the clock strikes midnight and goes to the day where they play the 201st game that's when the waivers would need to kick in, not sure how that would be executed but most likely would be a manual move by the commissioner.

Iām for straight to Free Agency we should all be watching our rosters and notice games played. We should make a farm transaction signing the over 200GP minor leaguers and waiver priority on Yahoo gets the player. Then Commissioner can manually change your waiver priority to the back of the line just like regular free agent drops.

Here's my vote on how these rules should be amended...
Suspended Waivers:
- I say we keep Suspended Waivers for Prospects on your Farm-Farm and abolish it for Minor Leaguers.
- As soon as a Prospect on your Farm-Farm steps on the ice for his 26th NHL game he is lost to Suspended Waivers for the entire season where he will become available to be drafted in the following year's Entry or Waiver Drafts. (We can discuss whether a GM should lose that roster spot on the Farm-Farm or if losing the prospect is punishment enough. We just don't want to see GMs abusing this rule and "banishing" prospects to Suspended Waivers because they didn't want to release them. That's why I think losing the roster spot might be good.)
Minor League Eligibility:
- As soon as a Minor Leaguer steps on the ice for his 201st NHL game, he becomes a Free Agent who is eligible to be added at 12:00am PST/3am EST the day after his 201st game is played. (Ex. Macklin Celebrini plays his 201st game on January 13th, he can be added by any team at 12:00am PST/3:00am EST on January 14th.
I like the thought of the player being automatically on Waivers after he steps on the ice for his 201st game like Kyle & Tyler have touched on...but I think it would become difficult to manage as the Commissioner would have to be heavily involved looking at the games played of every single player and manually adjusting it.

I agree with this. To make it even more clear I'd say that gametime at game 201 or 26, they're lost. If game time is 8pm est, the transaction must be 7:59pm est or before. I can get behind the suspended waivers for players on your farm-farm becasue it's not the same scenario as a player closer to being a free agent. Also it makes drafting more interesting of a quality younger player is available. I still strongly believe changing to same day transactions on yahoo eliminates the interpretation of of when a transaction should take place to satisfy the rules on proboards. Then both platforms reflect each other immediately. It also better resembles GM duties in the NHL and can allow GMs to pivot quickly if players get deemed out without warning. This is especially helpful with goalies when trying to make 3 goalie starts, which has came up the last few years becasue of how few goalies are available. I think losing the player is enough punishment and does the job of taking away the strategy of purposefully not calling up a player. Losing a farm spot seems like overkill imo. I also agree, I'd love them to be waiver eligible but like you said it requires a lot of tracking.

I'm not so sure we should include the age requirements in suspended waivers. We've always operated as the players retain their status based on age for the season. If they're under 26 on June 1st then they're farm eligible. However, I don't think we should allow a player that was 25 on June 1st and meets the game played requirement to be called up after their 26th birthday and be sent back down. As for the same day transactions I'm pretty sure Derrick has said in the past that it's just not possible with Yahoo without it being cumbersome for the commish.

This is especially helpful with goalies when trying to make 3 goalie starts, which has came up the last few years becasue of how few goalies are available. This is something the league would have to vote on but I'm not against it. I like your point on how it resembles the real NHL more. I think losing the player is enough punishment and does the job of taking away the strategy of purposefully not calling up a player. Losing a farm spot seems like overkill imo. I also agree, I'd love them to be waiver eligible but like you said it requires a lot of tracking. I'm good either way, I just figured may as well throw the lost roster spot in there, in the case there was a Prospect someone was going to release anyway but would rather let them lapse to Suspended Waivers. Might keep GMs more on their toes if they knew they'd lose a spot. I think you're a little mistaken with the age numbers (Prospects are 24 years old or younger & Minor Leaguers are 25 or older as of June 1st). Age doesn't really come into play with Suspended Waivers, just that your Farm-Farm players age needs to be 24 or younger as of June 1st. We use the June 1st method because, again, it would be far too much tracking to actually monitor every single players Birthday in real time. That's why we go by players having the same age per calendar season. As for the same day transactions I'm pretty sure Derrick has said in the past that it's just not possible with Yahoo without it being cumbersome for the commish. I'm not 100% sure on this but I would assume you would just have to change a setting on Yahoo.

RECAP:
- Prospects are players with 150 or fewer NHL games played and as of June 1st are 24 years old or younger.
- Minor Leaguers are players with 151-200 NHL games played and/or as of June 1st are 25 years of age or older.
- The Farm-Farm is only for Prospects 24 years old or younger as of June 1st with 25 or fewer NHL games played.
Now for what we've been discussing, does everyone agree with this? Anyone disagree? Do we need to make a poll so everyone is clear?
- At gametime of a Minor Leaguer's 201st NHL game, who is still on the Farm, he is released into Free Agency the following day at 12:00am PST/3:00am EST.) [Ex. Macklin Celebrini plays his 201st game on January 13th, he can be added by any team at 12:00am PST/3:00am EST on January 14th.]
- At gametime of a Prospect's 26th NHL game, who is still on the Farm-Farm, he is lost to Suspended Waivers for the season.
