ok guys so as u can see my team is just fair at best and in the next few weeks i will be making my decsion on if I want to go into rebuilding mode or what....so Renting Players.....does everyone agree that is ok or is the completly unfair.......i just dont want to do something that will upset some......by renting a player it means I would be possibly trading a player to a team for a prospect/pick type of deal with a condition that has a chance of being met but highly unlikely to be met then at the end of the season i would then get any players i "Rent out".......so does everyone think that is fair or is it unfair.....if majority are against it then for sure i wont even attempt it i just wanna know if people condone it

Unacceptable. "Renting" players is a form of collusion.

Unacceptable. "Renting" players is a form of collusion. not necesarily Collusion would be me sending away a top guy for next to nothing this would be a tool that could be used to help rebuild a team

Unacceptable. "Renting" players is a form of collusion. not necesarily Collusion would be me sending away a top guy for next to nothing this would be a tool that could be used to help rebuild a team I think it could be the start of a slippery slope. It kind of cheapens the whole idea of team building and can easily become collusion. It has the possibility of ruining "normal" trading. Whats the point of trading away a player if you can just rent him out for a waiver pick or draft pick until you think your team is good enough for the playoffs a few years down the line? That pretty much takes out any skill in being a GM. Also, if two GMs don't like whose in 1st place, they can combine their teams and try to beat them. Plus, how do you decide "fair value" for renting a player? We've seen guys like young studs (like Patrice Bergeron) and quality goalies (like Martin Biron) being traded, permanently, for 1st rd waiver picks. Renting a guy can't be worth that much. "Next to nothing" is always better than nothing at all. Whats to stop a GM from dumping all of their good players at the trade deadline for a late round waiver/draft pick if on the next day they'd have nothing for them anyways? Its to a GM's benefit to give (yes, GIVE) away their players for anything at all since they'd get them back at the end, anyways. If this "renting" occurs, I'll wager come trade deadline all non-playoff GMs will be begging other GMs for anything they can get for any of their players. If I'm out of the playoff picture, I can just imagine the 1st or 2nd place team offering me a 6th round waiver pick to rent Phaneuf, Staal, etc. Why not do it if I can't get a better offer, I'll just get them back in the end anyways? If the league is fine with this then I'll live. This isn't something thats a huge deal to me. I just personally don't think its a good idea and I'm just pointing out the two biggest flaws I see in this policy.
