The Phoenix Coyotes have signed forward Peter Mueller to an entry level contract, the club announced on Thursday.
The Coyotes selected the 19-year-old 8th overall in the 2006 NHL entry draft.
"The signing of Peter Mueller is an important step in our process of building a winning franchise here in Phoenix," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney.
"Developing our young talent is an important part of that process, and getting Peter signed and into our system is very exciting for us. He is an impressive talent."
Mueller skated for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League last season and scored 21 goals with 57 assists over 51 games. He managed to net seven goals and added nine assists in 12 playoff games. He won a bronze medal with Team U.S.A at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
The Hockey News ranked Mueller as the 7th best NHL prospect in its Future Watch issue.
