The San Jose Sharks sign (LW) Cory Conacher and assign him to Worcester. Went undrafted and has not signed an NHL contract, therefore he is ineligible to be signed to a NAFHL roster at this time.

The San Jose Sharks sign (LW) Cory Conacher and assign him to Worcester. Went undrafted and has not signed an NHL contract, therefore he is ineligible to be signed to a NAFHL roster at this time. I'm pretty sure the Lightning own his rights until July 1. Isn't that the baseline? Belonging to an NHL team? Lots of prospects belong to teams but haven't signed NHL deals yet.

Technically the Norfolk Admirals own his rights, not the Tampa Bay Lightning since he only has an AHL contract and went undrafted. The criteria is being drafted OR signing a contract with an NHL team (for those who went undrafted/overagers). Conacher falls outside both therefore he is a unique case.

Tampa Bay own his exclusive NHL rights until after July 1st. No other team can sign him. He had to sign some kind of contract to be involved with Tampa's camp. Tampa assigned him to Norfolk, doesn't that show enough NHL ownership?

Thoughts on the signing? It's legal.
The San Jose Sharks sign (G) Justin Peters and assign him to Worcester.

Thoughts on the signing? It's legal. The San Jose Sharks sign (G) Justin Peters and assign him to Worcester. Thoughts? I have a thought. Perhaps instead of updating the the "Unavailable Players" list each time, I should just starting adding the players I drop to your farm. It would save me a lot of work. As for Conacher, I have already expressed my thoughts on the signing. I don't feel it necessary to post them again and again after every attempt you make at circumventing the rules. Went undrafted and has not signed an NHL contract, therefore he is ineligible to be signed to a NAFHL roster at this time.

He did sign an NHL contract though, hence his Tampa NHL ownership, camp attendance and Tampa choosing how to handle him as a prospect and assigning him to Norfolk. I thought you were unaware of these facts and gave them to you to look over. Are you choosing to ignore the facts? I'm not circumventing anything, I'm well within my rights to sign this player. Stopping him from being signed to my club is a sham...but you seem to enjoy shams.
Justin Peters was originally scouted by San Jose management years ago. Bitter? It's not my problem you continue to release solid prospects. It's actually to my benefit. Thanks.

Show me a reliable source that states he signed an NHL contract and I will honor the signing. Everything I had read indicates that he has not signed an NHL contract.

I'm sure you're well aware of the facts at this point. Tampa's official site has a wealth of info. Technically the Norfolk Admirals own his rights, not the Tampa Bay Lightning since he only has an AHL contract and went undrafted. This isn't true, Tampa Bay acquired Conacher by virtue of his camp invitation and participation in pre-season games. Conacher has actually played games with Tampa, albeit preseason games. At the conclusion of camp Tampa assigned Conacher to Norfolk, their AHL affiliate, not the other way around. Does Conacher have an entry level NHL contract yet? No. But was he acquired by an NHL team who hold his exclusive rights? Yes. It's like being drafted as far as I'm concerned, he's owned by Tampa and off limits to others. Are we now keeping players off teams who are owned by NHL clubs? Was that the spirit of the rule? You tell me.

Tampa's official site does have a wealth of information...just not on an NHL contract for Conacher, because it doesn't exist. I don't understand what is causing the confusion here. In order to be on a NAFHL roster one must A. be drafted or B. have an NHL contract. Was Conacher drafted? No. Does Conacher have an NHL contract? No. Therefore, Conacher can not be signed. It is basic logic. Conacher has ONLY signed an AHL CONTRACT. He is not available to be re-called by the Lightning until he signs an NHL CONTRACT. His participation in camp has nothing to do with an NHL contract. It was merely a "try-out." He could have had a contract with any AHL team and tried out for the Lightning. It just so happens (and makes sense, given he lives in Florida) that he plays Norfolk, Tampa's AHL affiliate.

Let's not get into the intricacies of the NAFHL Rulebook. Fair enough. Spirit of the rule though? Fitting that I get technicality'ed though...I guess.
