Derrick,
So I guess you established that GMs can break "rules" (real ones or not) to retaliate against other GMs as long as they broke them first.
No, it is not ok to retaliate. You are missing the point. What's not ok is punishing a manager for trying to "survive" while forced into a situation or a series of actions he normally wouldnt partake in. In my opinion, you ruined the playoffs. Your act is what is being "punished," not the outcome of the the 50+ extra games your players played. Which is why it is irrelevant, now matter how dramatic, and no matter how much you try to blow up a few early season moves, it won't matter. You exploited rules with the worst intentions, did so during the playoffs, and streamed 50+ straight players on 21+ straight nights. That can not be said for any other manager in the league, so stop the finger pointing.
You weren't "forced to call up..." players against SJ in the regular season, but you did anyways. You made 12 moves in 1 week and you don't even think thats a bit odd?
I have NO idea where you get your information, but I'd like to see these 12 moves. In reality, it is more like 5 or 6, unless you are counting farm signings that have absolutley no bearing on the Yahoo matchup whatsoever.
In any event, this is the most misrepresented argument I have ever seen. It is WEEK ONE. Every team except Vancouver and Columbus made a transaction in Week 1, and most, made multiple transactions. Pittsburgh made 6, Montreal made 5, etc. Everyone fine tunes their team, looks for quick fixes and at times, panics. Specifically in my case, Brodeur started out slow, and as a result, my team did as well. If you look at my early season moves, the majority of them involved Leclaire, take into account my Johan Hedberg signing as well, and it is pretty obvious that I was trying to patch up a temporary hole on my team, not complete a barrage of transactions so I could cheat my way through the playoffs.
You even used your yahoo commissioner powers to change Kopitar & Leclaire's waiver dates so you could continue to add/drop them almost everyday.
I did this MANY times for other teams anytime they dropped a prospect. You are sadly mistaken if you try to claim any other argument. If i have to I'll pull the Yahoo log.
Derrick, keep on trying to call me dishonest and a cheat. I know, and I hope I convinced/showed other GMs.
That's just the thing, you are trying to convince other managers (as well as yourself) of the crazy ideas/arguments you come up with instead of letting the facts talk for themselves. You are nitpicking, looking for someone to take down with you.
Finally, I just wanted to thank Derrick for inspiring my playoff strategy that helped me win the championship. Without his creativity, dishonesty, and his ability to exploit league rules, I probably still would've won the championship, but not in such a dominating way. Thank you Derrick!
Yeah ok pal. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
