Just wanted to say that its reasons like Derrick's midnight free-for-all rule that make this league hilarious. I can't believe that the rule still exists. I enjoy seeing how 3 GMs "signed" the same player (Fabian Brunnstrom) and two GMs signed the same couple of other players all at the "exact" moment.

I don't think Brunnstrom being signed by multiple managers comes to a surprise to anyone except maybe you.
If you think you have a better way to conduct free-agent signing i'd be more than happy to hear it. From what I can tell managers seem to enjoy it, and you are just a little frustrated that you logged on a few minutes late and missed out on one or more players you were eyeing.
Dont worry, players who are signed by multiple teams will be shuffled into one of the drafts (prospect?) later on as a "draft only" player since they seem to be such hot commodities, Brunnstrom included.

I'm not sad that I missed out on Brunnstrom (I never expected to get him anyways, so I didn't bother trying at all). Plus, I doubt he turns into a fantasy "stud" so its not like I'm crying myself to sleep tonight. I'm just surprised that nobody thought of a way to avoid this in the first place.
If anybody bothered giving thought to it, we could have signings like its currently written, but add the clause that if multiple teams want the same player then the teams go through waivers to sign him. Like in yahoo, the worst team has first priority and best has the last. Once the worst team uses their waiver claim once, their priority is now last while the second worst team now has highest priority.
PS if you REALLY want to avoid the whole "who picked who first" argument, take a look at the forum function "10 most recent posts." I did this before starting this topic and it read that Andrew posted his signings first, followed by Nos, Derrick, and Krzysztof. I can post a couple of screen shots to show this if it matters.

While I don't disagree about brunnstrom, don't assume this scenario wasn't thought out because it was. It just hasn't been added to the rulebook, along with several other minor clauses. If anybody bothered assuming some responsibilty in the way of a NAFHL occupation maybe some of these things could be more well thought out, planned, and individualized. BUT until then... It doesnt matter to me one bit, if the league wants to vote on how to handle this situation be my guest. As of right now, players who were signed by multiple teams will be thrown back into the prospect draft/waiver draft pool. This is a reasonable and logical solution in my opinion. Feel free to suggest other methods.

I don't see why we don't go with the "first come first serve" format we had in the first place. The order of the posts was clear enough if you had checked the 10 recent posts (I can confirm what Mark said). In the future, waivers might be the way to go.
