Pending. There has been a significant amount of concern/complaint about this trade. Really? I'd like to hear the complaints, and which side they think is favored. Seriously, I'm genuinely interested, haha.

The basic concern/complaint is that the trade roughly translates to:
Dave Bolland Nikolai Khabibulin (2009 6th Overall)
for
Steve Downie Taylor Hall/Tyler Seguin (2010 1st/2nd Overall)
or
3rd/2nd Line Center Waiver Wire/FA
for
1st/2nd Line Top 30 H2H Player Elite Propsect
Also, Toronto has finished last or 2nd to last 2 of the last 3 years, it's team is no position to make a run at the cup, therefore trading away a proven 23 year old H2H stud and another (great potential) elite prospect for immediate "help" in the form of lesser potential in both Bolland and #6 overall waiver doesn't make much sense, nor does it help improve its team.
These are just some of the complaints I have received.

If people wanted Downie they should have proposed a trade. Did anyone watch Bolland in the playoffs? He'll be getting 2nd line minutes with the recent trades in Chicago.

Downie was amazing last season (one of the best points/PIMs combo in the entire league) and I think he finished in the top 50 rankings for yahoo, but I think the BIG debate is the inclusion of the 1st rd prospect pick with Downie. Toronto's team the past two seasons has been consistently a top 2 draft pick and is likely to be high next year. I think people just wanted everyone involved to be aware of the significance of this draft pick and the value of multi-category studs (like Downie), especially since some of us don't know how familiar Teddy is with the league rules or how it runs.

I also thought the trade favored Vancouver, but that's because I tend to put a larger emphasis on younger players. Just to play devil's advocate here... Nikolai Khabibulin? Come on, if you're a sound drafter you can pick up huge help in the waiver draft at that position. I took David Backes in the first (9th) and Ryan Kesler (40th) in the fourth, two keepers this past season on a deep championship team. Other notables taken around the 6th spot, Mikko Koivu (5th) and Tomas Kaberle (7th). Dave Bolland in all likelihood will play the 2nd line center spot on Chicago, playing with Marian Hossa. You could also argue that Toronto has taken large steps to becoming competitive this upcoming season with Steven Stamkos, Matt Duchene, Patrick Marleau, Dan Boyle, and Tomas Kaberle to name the 'nucleus' of the team. Will this be a bottom 2 team? Possible, depending on the upcoming draft, but in my opinion unlikely. I'd put this team in the 7-9 spot with a chance at the playoffs. That chance grows with the possibility to add a key piece at 6th. If you decide to veto this trade I'd suggest finding a replacement for Teddy since the majority would already question his hockey mind and it would only get worse from here on out. He also hasn't responded to my last inquiry (lack of involvement) and he misspelled 'concur'.

Just as a side note, the man's real name is Chris. But since having two Chris's would get confusing, I elected to call him "Teddy" until a permanent solution could be found. Perhaps "Clark." Or C-Diddy. I hope this trade wasn't out of spite because offense was taken by "Teddy."

'Teddy' wasn't discussed with him? Haha, classic. How about Christopher? Or Topher.

His name is Ryan but he goes by Clarkey.
The guy lives on my street and I can assure you he's on the site regularly. NOS, you are trying to pry away his young talent, that's why he hasn't responded. Stop making trade requests no one is interested in.
If you veto the trade you are doing so on 'what if' scenarios.

The guy lives on my street and I can assure you he's on the site regularly. NOS, you are trying to pry away his young talent, that's why he hasn't responded. Stop making trade requests no one is interested in. He didn't respond to my first inquiry until over two weeks later (when he checked the site for the first time since being signed on to GM), his response was a childish 'pshh you can't have it' quip to my inquiry about Matt Duchene's availability, I didn't offer him anything. I asked what it would take to get Matt Duchene or Jonathan Bernier. He didn't say anything about Bernier so I reiterated, to which he didn't respond at all. Those were the pieces I was interested in, I gave him a trading partner option by contacting him. Those two pieces can't be moved? Not even worth discussing? Even to a stacked team with a GM probably willing to overpay to a bottom feeder who should be looking at any possible deal? Come on. Even if he wasn't interested a courteous message back would suffice. I call that the 'Krzysztof'. If you veto the trade you are doing so on 'what if' scenarios. Duh, the deal involves two important draft picks.
