Ongoing discussion regarding the Toronto/Vancouver trade located here. I am not sure how the opinion of the league has been swayed (if at all), but as badly as I hate to veto trades, I will put this up so it can be decided one way or the other. Please cast your vote and/or leave your opinion in the thread. Thanks. Canucks trade Dave Bolland 2010 6th overall waiver pick Leafs trade Steve Downie 2011 1st round prospect

No, it shouldn't be vetoed.

It's really not that bad of a trade. Not enough to veto.

Anyone that votes to veto the trade remember this. My team is better than yours and you will not beat me this year. So far I've got 2 people to veto....speak up, don't hide behind a vote. Thank you to NOS and Robyn for announcing their vote.

I don't mind speaking up. Don't be upset if I vote to veto. Has nothing to do with your team. I am asked if I think the trade is fair, and I don't particularly do.

my opinion is a trade is hardly ever "Fair" if a manager can give a good explanation then it goes through, I have made some questionable moves to some of you I am sure, but my intent has always been to ice my best team.

I voted veto. Mainly, I think the deal is a little too one-sided, a new GM is involved (who has unknown fantasy experience on yahoo), and because of the real-life relationship.

Another point that hasn't been brought up on the forum:
Toronto trading a RW (hardest position to fill) for a C (easiest position to fill) to which there are already 4 on the roster, pre-waiver draft.
Also, how is the level of Clarky's yahoo fantasy experience known? PM? Did I miss something? Or is that comment making a general statement about an unknown?

I could take Dan Carcillo off waivers or Ott. The reason you can't fill RW is because you have it on lock down.
Carcillo 22 pts 207 PIMS Ott 36 pts 153 PIMS
Stop whining and approve the trade. I cannot believe how ridiculous those that voted to veto are being. This is a fun league and it's pissing me off. No wonder Derik is managing 3 teams because you can't keep GMs.
Speaking of ridiculous how is it that Derik gets to manage and make trades for 3 teams. You just keep moving top players to other teams. No one seems to call bulls*it when it benefits their team.
Enough said.

I have remained mum on the subject, relaying managers concerns and following the rules of the league in starting a veto poll. However, I will not tolerate fruitless personal attacks that are substantiated by asinine claims, more specifically those aimed toward me. I could spend all day detailing the many holes in your above "logic" but I will just hit the key points.
RW is hardest to fill because as you might have guessed, it has the shallowest pool of fantasy relevant talent, not because I have it on "lock down." But thanks for the compliment. That wasn't on accident. I obtained the RW's i have because of planned drafting, as well as a having to give up a wealth of talent at other positions (Kopitar, Kovalchuk, and many 1st round picks).
Furthermore, "I can't keep GM's" because managers get burnt out, or quit when controversy befalls their team. Perhaps more relevant to the discussion, GM's step down for personal reasons, or they get VOTED out because they can't quite fulfill the obligation to the league. I do not just bring in warm bodies for the sake of filling a GM vacancy. The people I "employ" are friends from other fantasy leagues (or recommendations from these individuals) who I trust.
With that said, I can manage 3 teams because it is what has to be done right now. Any move that is or has been made benefits both teams involved. I do not get anything out of managing 3 teams other than what will hopefully lead to parity, and a more competitive league. When these teams have new GM's (August), the league will be better for it.
To address the situation at hand, since i'm so corrupt, and controlling three teams, I figure I could vote to veto the trade, vote for Columbus to veto the trade, and then vote for Atlanta to veto the trade making the final tally in favor of veto (since toronto/vancouver votes are omitted).
My suggestion to you would be: dont bite the hand that feeds. Furthermore, try not to look like a jackass when trying to get a league of your peers to approve your questionable trade. It goes a long way toward reputation, both now and in the future. If you would like to sling around petty quips, I, (and other GM's im sure) would be more than welcome to address them via PM. Otherwise, let the poll/league run its course.

Also, how is the level of Clarky's yahoo fantasy experience known? PM? Did I miss something? Or is that comment making a general statement about an unknown? Its just a generalized comment that I (personally) have no knowledge of his fantasy experience or how familiar he is with how our league is. I'm not pointing fingers or accusing people in this league, but in my past I've seen other GMs in other leagues take over a new team, trade away a lot of their best players in very questionable deals, and leave the team that same season. Since then, I just make it a rule of thumb to be cautious with new GMs. PS I think Derrick has actually done a pretty solid job in GM duties for the other teams. Do you remember how shitty Toronto was? Look at that team now compared to before the trade deadline (when Derrick took over). They went from a last place team to being considered a threat to make the playoffs for this upcoming year. Plus, I'm pretty sure he hasn't made a trade between Ottawa and any team that he's controlled, so you can't say he's trying to cheat deals to improve himself.
