Commissioner Rankings1. Ottawa (1) Leads the league in Goals (58), Assists (96), PPP (69), and GWG (12). Solid Goaltending numbers too (11 W, 2.48, .914, 2 SHO) mainly because of this guy.2. Minnesota (3) Minnesota Power Rankings since 2009 = 10/2/09 - #9, 10/19/09 - #8, 11/3/09 - #7/6, 12/24/09 - #5/4, 10/26/10 - #3, 11/8/10 - #2, 11/22/10 - Do you believe in miracles? 3. Detroit (2) Burrows back, Rafalski back, Spezza back, Gaborik close to returning. Unfortunately Shane Doan just joined the revolving door of injured Red Wings and is listed as week-to-week. Has just as many Goals, Assists, PPP, SHP, and GWG with half a roster as 2nd Place (Standings) Toronto does with a full team. 4. Carolina (5) Top 5 in every single category except PIM. 5. San Jose (4) Leads the league in SOG (572) but not enough are going in the net (45). Parise to IR, Iginla, Lecavalier still struggling. Goaltending still a concern early on.6/7. Boston (6) A good offense should only get better with the return of Savard and Streit. Dustin Byfuglien and James Wisniewski are nice additions. But can Price carry the load with Khabibulin taking a nose dive?7/6. Calgary (7) I am still undecided who got the shorter end of the stick on that Steve Mason for Marc-Andre Fleury summer "blockbuster." Calgary is in the middle of the pack in nearly every offensive category, but surprisingly leads the league in +/- (24) after spending its first few NAFHL season dead last in said category.8. Washington (9) Who needs defense or goal tending anyway?9. Anaheim (8) *See Calgary* Tied for league lead in Goals and GWG, but Goaltending stats are in trash. Is Kovalchuk really worth 100 million? And although an Anaheim Duck, Niklas Kronwall doesn't have place in this analysis other than for a shameless plug for the best hitter in the NHL. Maybe it will even increase his value around the league too. 10. TorontoLeads the league in all major goaltending stats, but in the bottom half of the league in every offensive category except +/- (20). Shockingly the acquisition of Dave Bolland (for Steve Downie) didn't propel this team to offensive stardom.11. AtlantaBig changes this past week for the Thrashers. Lets see how new players and injured stars do before anointing the Thrashers NAFHL's "Cinderella." Very good +/- (23) and leads the league in goalie wins (14).12. ColoradoDead last in Goals, PPP, SHP, GWG, and in the bottom 3 in nearly every offensive category but +/- which is actually pretty good (22). Goaltending now a concern with Anderson out indefinitely and Lundqvist struggling to find his groove. 2 recent shutouts = encouraging though.Standings1. Minnesota 2. Toronto 3. Ottawa 4. Carolina 5. Boston 6. Washington 7. Colorado 8. Calgary 9. Atlanta 10. San Jose 11. Detroit 12. Anaheim IDLE COULD RISECOULD FALL

I love reading this stuff but how am I placed 5th? The cold start? I thought this was based around who had the best chance to win the championship? I'm 5th best in that regard? Just a month ago you wished me luck and said you'd see me in the finals...again. What has changed since then aside from the cold start? I'd like to direct your attention to Jeff Skinner who has replaced Parise's production admirably and my goaltending is just fine, especially with Quick ready to make the jump to my main roster sooner rather than later. I think I'll be just fine.

Nominating myself as best GM in NAFHL history. Who else could take a team of such plugs to 2011 champs. Go Wild!

What has changed since then aside from the cold start? Iginla 13 points in last 37 games played. Enough already, Vincent Lecavalier is a 70 point player since the surgeries. Rick Nash is no longer on the PK, never topped 80 points. 2 best seasons = 79p/69p Zach Parise on IR. Little/Staal Injured. Jeff Skinner will not have 82 points (pace), forget about 94, and will not even come close to 350 SOG. Penner/Knuble log 3rd line minutes. Kunitz = 148 games played over past 4 years. Backes = Last 92 games/18 goals. Previous 92 games/36 goals. Kostitsyn scoreless in 7 games, Subban scoreless in 5. Vokoun will struggle to win .500% Luongo = last 32 games played only 12 under 3 GAA. 3.23 GAA in 2010 Playoffs and only 5/11 under 3 GAA in 2011 2011 San Jose Sharks = 5th G, 11th A, 11th +/- 4th PIM, 5th PPP, 3rd to last in GWG, bottom of the pack in goalie wins, 6th in GAA, 5th in SV% ...just to name a few of the things that have changed/reasons that factor in to a #5 ranking (could rise), which if was solely based on play this season is still fairly generous.

psshhh...okay. A lot of those statistics have to do with the cold start, as I admitted, add to that the fact that you said 'see you in the finals again' before the start of this season so I don't buy going back games from last season to illustrate a point. Some of the other players you're slagging are players that are being used as plugs for injuries to players that should return come playoff time. I don't think anything my team does from here on out deserves a spot less than 3rd and I believe my team to still be top of the pack, certainly not middle of the road, there's just too much talent to ignore. I respect your rankings and accept the reasons you gave for placing me 5th, we'll see how the rest of the year plays out. Oh, and Iginla has 25 points in the last 37 games, not 13. Your assessment of Lecavalier and Skinner are personal feelings and don't reflect actual statistics. Knuble was just moved down to the second line from the top line and I'm sure we'll see him back up there in time. Same goes for Penner, he's been placed on the 2nd line in the previous couple of games. Kunitz having some injury problems over the past couple seasons means that'll continue? Has he missed any time this year? Vokoun is a top 5 goalie talent wise and is on the last year of his contract, come playoff time I see him on a much better team. Little, Staal and Parise will be healthy come playoff time. Sorry, that was a little too much to take as far as the besmirchment of my team and players, I had to stand up. By the same token I could point out that your defense consists of Lidstrom, Bieksa and Corvo...and that's it. Or the fact that you're relying on an aging vet with injury problems that plays for a struggling team, a backup that lost his job and a couple of rookies to round out your goaltending. I'd say these are more pressing concerns than those of my team friend.

*14 points in last 30 for Iginla
I don't know why I initially used 37, whereas the point to be made was that since his "cold streak" started (3/11/09) he has yet to rebound. The significance of the majority of the numbers that I am using is that they carry over from last season (or multiple seasons) and lend strength to these trends negating the possibility of them being considered a "fluke."
As for Vinny, that is not my opinion. That is fact.
Pre-Surgeries:
2006 - 75 pts/ 80 gp 2007 - 108 pts/ 82 gp 2008 - 92 pts/ 81 gp
Since:
2009 - 67 pts/77 gp 2010 - 70 pts/82 gp 2011 - 9 pts/13 gp (projected 57 pts/82 gp)
It seems rather irrelevant that Little will be healthy come playoff time since he was just dropped from your roster.
Vokoun moved to a "much better team" seems unlikely because there isn't a market for goalies, and there exists no such team who is willing to absorb 5.7 million in salary long term (or a pro-rated one) for an aging vet, UFA next season or not. *See Nabokov*
AND commenting on my defensemen, are you referring to the Lidstrom who leads all D in scoring (more than Pronger/Chara combined, and then some) and the Corvo who is tied for second in goals scored among all D? You are aware I still have Phaneuf and Erik Johnson too right? Or are you pointing out that I was atop the league this past week, while leading the majority of offensive categories league wide with such an "inadequate" D core?
I'm not even going to comment on the Goalie thing to save you the embarrassment. You should be ashamed of yourself.

The significance of the majority of the numbers that I am using is that they carry over from last season (or multiple seasons) and lend strength to these trends negating the possibility of them being considered a "fluke." So a 30 game sample size is enough for you to consider it something other than a 'fluke'? Gotcha. As for Vinny, that is not my opinion. That is fact. Pre-Surgeries: 2006 - 75 pts/ 80 gp 2007 - 108 pts/ 82 gp 2008 - 92 pts/ 81 gp Since: 2009 - 67 pts/77 gp 2010 - 70 pts/82 gp 2011 - 9 pts/13 gp (projected 57 pts/82 gp) Okay, even if he is only a 70 point player how many players in total last year scored 70 points? It was 30 total, and only 15 centers scored 70 points or better, Vinny included in those 15. It seems rather irrelevant that Little will be healthy come playoff time since he was just dropped from your roster. True, I dropped him because of a need for a center rather than a right winger. Little was injured, not producing and plays for the Atlanta Thrashers. With the recent injury to Lecavalier this is even more of a need unfortunately. Vokoun moved to a "much better team" seems unlikely because there isn't a market for goalies, and there exists no such team who is willing to absorb 5.7 million in salary long term (or a pro-rated one) for an aging vet, UFA next season or not. *See Nabokov* Firstly, Vokoun is a world class talent and a sight better than Nabokov. Second, his contract is up at the end of this year, therefore there is no 'long term' 5.7 million commitment. What will likely happen is a team picking him up for a small fraction of his contract near the trade deadline. Do you really think teams wouldn't jump at the chance to add such a key piece to their playoff aspirations if they can? Vokoun is better than 80% of the goaltending population and with teams using rookie goaltenders or borderline starters I'm sure they'd be in the market to use Vokoun to give themselves a better chance at winning. AND commenting on my defensemen, are you referring to the Lidstrom who leads all D in scoring (more than Pronger/Chara combined, and then some) and the Corvo who is tied for second in goals scored among all D? You also have Bieksa, a terrible option, a player I don't even want on the Canucks. Do you think Corvo is going to keep up his torrid pace? Doubtful, actually no...he won't, period. You have one solid defenseman and that's it. You are aware I still have Phaneuf and Erik Johnson too right? Oh, I wasn't aware they were playing games for you at this time. Seems Phaneuf is injured, just like Zach Parise is for my team, and Jordan Staal, and Vincent Lecavalier. You do realize I still have those players...right? Erik Johnson has been good for 4 points in 14 games. Or are you pointing out that I was atop the league this past week, while leading the majority of offensive categories league wide with such an "inadequate" D core? Yup, you had a hot start, congrats on that. Having such pitiful defense will catch up to you. I'm not even going to comment on the Goalie thing to save you the embarrassment. You should be ashamed of yourself. Me? Embarrassed? BOB is solid, I admit to that but he's also a rookie and depending on rookies for the majority of your goaltending isn't the way I'd want to go.

You know, for once you are right when you say Vokoun is better than 80% of the goaltending population, Luongo included. However, I fail to see how you think such a "world class" goalie is going to go from making 5.7 million to 2.5 million or less after a "contract year." Like it or not, Vokoun is in the exact same situation Nabokov was, an aging vet stuck in a world where teams have figured out you can't dump all the cap space into goaltending. If Vokoun is traded at the deadline for a fraction of his salary, he will not be resigned by that team next year. He will be on a 1-2 year contract with the Panthers or in Russia so he can wind down his career close to home. 1. My two starting goaltenders are Brodeur and HILLER. Pavelec and Rask on deck. Not exactly rookies. 2. Bobrovsky has been playing professional hockey for 5 years. 3. Relying on "rookies" to supplement the starters and even become starters themselves is exactly what I want to do. It maximizes keeper slots available for forwards and D. It worked out okay for Hiller in his first season. Backstrom in his first season, Lundqvist in his first season, Howard in his first season, Rask for me last season, and it will work for Bob this season.

You know, for once you are right For once? Seems like I've been doing an okay job of disproving your outlandish claims. Let's continue... when you say Vokoun is better than 80% of the goaltending population, Luongo included. I wouldn't go that far, he's certainly better than Brodeur though. However, I fail to see how you think such a "world class" goalie is going to go from making 5.7 million to 2.5 million or less after a "contract year." I don't see Vokoun having any trouble signing with a club in the off-season and it doesn't have to be for 2.5 million or less, it'll probably be for around 4-5 million with ease simply because Vokoun is a lot better than the goalies that signed for 2.5 million or less, i.e. Turco, Niittymaki, Niemi, etc. Vokoun is an NHL goalie and has stated numerous times that this is where he wants to be regardless. He's a competitor. So just because one goalie fled to his 'homeland' you think this will be the status quo? Come on Derr. What kind of examples are these? Prayer? Like it or not, Vokoun is in the exact same situation Nabokov was Uh...no, no he isn't. Smart posturing though. Why are you calling Vokoun an aging vet? Because I said Brodeur was one first? Vokoun is only 34, playing the best hockey of his career, he's put up stellar numbers year after year despite playing for some weak teams. Brodeur is 38, struggling, has always played for a defensively competent team but is now playing for a team finally starting to struggle along with him. Without their heart and soul (Parise) to bail them out of tough times it's going to be a nightmare for him this year. stuck in a world where teams have figured out you can't dump all the cap space into goaltending. Not all the cap space, but a decent chunk, 4-5 million, is that unreasonable for a top goaltender? Is that unreasonable for a team to expect? Several of the league's top teams over the years have money stashed away in goaltending and it's no accident. It's probably the most critical position in hockey. If Vokoun is traded at the deadline for a fraction of his salary, he will not be resigned by that team next year. Maybe, maybe not but that's irrelevant at this point. He can be signed by another top team in the off-season. Or he could have a great showing and impress the team he's traded to. At least now you accept that it's a possibility for him to be traded at the deadline. He will be on a 1-2 year contract with the Panthers or in Russia so he can wind down his career close to home. He won't be with the Panthers, nor will he be in Russia, he wants a cup. If anybody should be 'winding down their career' it's the 38-year-old Brodeur not the 34-year-old Vokoun. 1. My two starting goaltenders are Brodeur and HILLER. Pavelec and Rask on deck. Not exactly rookies. I've made my feelings known about Brodeur's ability at this point in his career. Hiller plays for a mediocre team and isn't playing for you at this time. Pavelec plays for the Atlanta Thrashers. Rask lost his job to Tim Thomas. Not exactly rookies, but not exactly feasible options at this time. 2. Bobrovsky has been playing professional hockey for 5 years. He hasn't played in the best league in the world though, which makes him a rookie here. Those are some of the top examples of it 'working', for every one of those there are several times where it didn't work out so favorably. You better pray BOB is among that group because if he falters, your goaltending is in trouble.

I've made my feelings known about Brodeur's ability at this point in his career. Hiller plays for a mediocre team and isn't playing for you at this time. Hiller (.919%) is on a 5 game win streak, and the "mediocre" Ducks (2nd place in the Western Conference) have won 6 straight. Ondrej Pavelec: 2.34 GAA, .931 SV% Tomas Vokoun: 2.42 GAA, .917 SV% Roberto Luongo: 2.63 GAA, .914 SV% You certainly must think so, considering how firmly Vokoun is planted on your bench (see Attachment) tonight for his match up versus my Bobrovsky (2.09, .931%). Hiller (.919%) is on a 5 game win streak, and the "mediocre" Ducks (2nd place in the Western Conference) have won 6 straight. They're on a tear of late but that doesn't mean they aren't a mediocre club. The season is young and I don't expect them to be anywhere near the top of the West. You seem to be a hot streak kind of guy. Ondrej Pavelec: 2.34 GAA, .931 SV% Tomas Vokoun: 2.42 GAA, .917 SV% Roberto Luongo: 2.63 GAA, .914 SV% Pavelec has played 4 full games all year. The fact that you compare that to two goalies carrying the load is laughable and I question your critical mind at this point. Oh, he still plays for the Thrashers, enough said. You certainly must think so, considering how firmly Vokoun is planted on your bench (see Attachment) tonight for his match up versus my Bobrovsky (2.09, .931%). I don't need to start Vokoun tonight, nor do I think he'll even get the start in a back to back situation. If he does get the start it isn't wise to play a goalie in back to back games, Vokoun plays for the Panthers, Bobrovsky plays for the Flyers. It's called strategy. Not to mention my goaltending stats blow yours out of the water. Put it this way, if Bobrovsky played for the Panthers you wouldn't have even picked him up on a whim. Is Bobrovsky even the confirmed starter? You better hope so.

Only Los Angeles has more (22), regardless of games played, which I never made any claim about. You are very good at drawing criticism on things that I never say. Speaking of checking the standings...You better hope it doesn't rain in the NAFHL, champ, I hear basements can flood. Oh wait, you aren't the champ, I am, aren't I? ...two years in a row in fact. You are very good at drawing criticism on things that I never say. Regardless of games played? That comes into the equation in the standings, if you didn't know that. Teams with equal points are placed ahead because they got to that point before the Ducks, you know...without having to play as many games. These teams also have a better chance of supplanting the Ducks. You better hope it doesn't rain in the NAFHL, champ, I hear basements can flood. Its called presenting the most favorable statistics to support claims. This is a popular practice exploited by ever single market, both major and minor, in the world. It would be silly for me to make your case for you. However, these statistics are not falsities because there is a chance that these teams who have played less games than the Ducks will lose all the said games and the Ducks will remain, if not improve in the standings. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.... Don't worry, I can go all day with these quips all day. P.S. I hope those fluke 15 PIM Burns got you was worth the 2 game suspension he was handed today.

It doesn't give you much credit nor does it paint you in a positive light. Yes, there is a chance that the St. Louis Blues or Detroit Red Wings will lose 4 games in a row but even if they do that they'll still be tied with Anaheim points wise with having played the same amount of games. Not only does this have to happen but they have to keep losing while Anaheim would have to keep winning. Is this very likely? No, I wouldn't bet anything on that happening, but yes it is possible. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.... Don't worry, I can go all day with these quips all day. P.S.
