Commissioner Rankings
1. Ottawa (1)
Lost 3 of last 4 weeks by a combined 4 points. Ondrej Pavelec has neither a son nor a daughter, but he is still a daddy, as evidenced Here, Here, and Here. All of that to say, surprisingly, Ottawa leads the league in Goalie Wins (25). And after being dead last in +/- (-27) (and completely retooling a roster) finished Week 10 with a +10. Owns more tied categories than anyone in the league (21).
2. Minnesota (2)
6-1-1 on the year in weekly match-ups, with its only loss coming on an 8-2 drubbing at the hands of TML (Thomas Maple Leafs). After winning 6 straight, Bryzgalov has just 1 win in his past 4 outings. Likewise, after a 6 game win streak for Halak, he has just 3 wins in his past 11. The numbers are solid, but the wins aren't there right now.
3. Detroit (3)
Quietly Corey Crawford has a game 6 win streak as he waits his turn in Grand Rapids battling starter Jimmy Howard (2.38 GAA, .919 SV%). Meanwhile, Detroit owns the rights to the 2nd worst goalie categories across the board (15 W, 2.91 GAA, .900 SV%) Only Ottawa (24) and Carolina (26) have more goals scored than Detroit in the last 14 days (23).
4. Carolina (4)
Guess who leads the league in Goals (111), SHP (11), and SOG (1099)? Back to back shutouts for Ryan Miller. Patrick Kane reportedly out 4-6 weeks after injuring an *ankle*. Keep an eye on Carolina prospect Mathieu Perreault, who was signed this past summer, whereas he scored 2 goals in his season debut with Washington.
5. San Jose (5)
21 goals in last 14 days, 9 of which belong to Crosby. 106 total goals scored on the year, 23 of which belong to Crosby. Any time one man is scoring 22% of your goals it is cause for concern. Depth wins championships. Iginla = 13 PTS in his last 10. Good for him. PK Subban has been scratched for several contests. Perhaps somebody in the Sharks organization should tell him not to fight his own teammates.
6. Boston (6)
The Boston Bruins are NAFHL's hottest team right now, owning a 3 week win streak. The Bruins extinguished the Flames in Week 8, putting up 34 PTS, +11, 24 PIMS, 11 PPP, and 124 SOG. In net, the B's are 2nd in GAA (2.39), 2nd in SV% (.922) and tied for 1st in SHO (5). Yeah, the Price is right. Dustin Byfuglien is the most valuable player in Fantasy Hockey.
7. Calgary (7)
Marc-Andre Fleury is the best statistical goalie over the past 2 weeks (6 W, 1.17 GAA, .960 SV%, 1 SHO) which plays a large part in Calgary being tied for second in Goalie Wins on the year (24). However, Calgary is 8th (2.63) in GAA, 8th (.913), and owns the 2nd fewest shutouts in the league. After scoring 59 PTS last season, Drew Doughty has become a ghost with just 7 points on the season. But Calgary still leads the league in +/- with a +44.
8. Washington (8)
Pekka Rinne out at least a month after knee surgery. This. is. not. good. Left with only Washington goal tending and in jeopardy of not making goalie starts for the week, these next 4 weeks or so will mean making the playoffs or settling for a consolation spot. -26 on the year (11th) and dead last in PPP (61) and Assists (124). However, nobody has more PIMS over the past two weeks than Sean Avery (47) even chipping in 4 assists. Jordan Eberle looks good, even though he is stuck in *expletive* Edmonton.
9. Toronto (9)
Lost 3 of its last 4 weeks. Steven Stamkos has just 5 points in 2 weeks and Tim Thomas let in 3 goals twice during that span. A drop in the standings a coincidence? I think not. Once Thomas implodes, this team is doomed.
10. Atlanta (11)
Ryan Malone is a bastard. Actually, over the past 14 days, only Crosby, Ovechkin, and Byfuglien rank higher. Sometimes all a player needs is a little change of NAFHL scenery to get going. No other Atlanta player ranks in the Top 30. +37 on the year and tied for 2nd in Goalie Wins (24). With the emergence of Crawford, the Thrashers organization looks like a genius for cashing in on Turco. However a gaping hole in net remains.
11. Anaheim (10)
Oh Anaheim. Malkin out with a knee injury. McDonald out with a possible concussion. Selanne dealing with a wonky groin. Leighton sucking it up in the AHL. Goaltending in shambles (League worst in Wins (14) and GAA (3.19) and SHO (1). However, the additions of Brad Richards and Tomas Plekanec solidify the Center position. Still leads the league in GWG (19).
12. Colorado (12)
It isn't 2002 anymore, but Milan Hejduk is carrying this team. Kris Letang isn't bad either (26 PTS/ 29 GP). Colorado just keeps on winning, 2-0-1 last 3 weeks but not a large enough sample size yet to make me a believer. Why Kevin Shattenkirk, Taylor Hall, and Derick Brassard remain on the farm and the (Not Active) Brayden Schenn is rostered is beyond me.
