We've talked about this in the past and I've been talking with Derrick recently about this type of change. Basically we'd keep everything the same except add an additional OHL/WHL roster for players with 10 games or fewer NHL experience. Once a player exceeds this restriction the player would have to be moved to the AHL or NHL roster, working his way up. This would allow prospects to develop at their own pace without GM's having to cut bait on them early. It would add considerable worth to draft picks as well. I'm all for this deeper fantasy experience. I thought we'd get a discussion going so what do you guys think? Ideas, concerns, yay or nay? A poll will be made at a later date.

I would say at Most 9 Roster Max, which would enable us to keep them for 3 years before we decide on adding more(assuming that our picks don't make the jump in those three years and we don't add or trade any of our picks. But I do like the idea

I'd be on board for that, slowly working the roster up and reassessing it yearly. 9-10 spots would be ideal to start.

Good idea, current farm teams are pretty crowded.

Regarding the new poll, why is the number 0 NHL games played? I feel like there needs to be at least some leeway in that regard. I thought 10 games would be a good mark because in the real NHL rookie contracts don't kick in until the player has played in 10 games. Usually you see teams giving rookies 'try outs' at the beginning of the year and have 9 games to see if they stick. That's how I came to that number, sort of graduating from junior/prospect to pro/viable contributing asset.

The quick and overwhelming majority of the league has spoken. As it stands now, there are enough votes to implement the rule change. The new team roster will consist of 10 players (age 24 and younger) with 10 NHL games played or less.
