The 2011-2012 season is right around the corner. So in the interest of curiosity, discussion, and hype, we here in the NAFHL front office have decided to unveil our annual "Top Goalies" (potential starters only) list for the upcoming season. The super secret formula used to generate these rankings consists of a variety of different things such as raw talent, stats, injury risk, job security, age, value, etc. Rant, rave, discuss.

Thanks for the list! Full of lots of surprises, it could make things interesting. Ward seems really high. Is Hiller healthy? Looks like there isn't a lot of love for some vets like Brodeur, Kipper, & Thomas for next season. Howard is surprisingly low, too. Plus, I think someone doesn't believe in Optimus Reim.
Fun list, we'll have to see how it turns out. The only thing better than 20/20 vision is hindsight!

37 wins (tied for 2nd in NHL), .923% (tied for 5th in NHL) and only getting better entering prime at 27 years old.
All reports indicate yes. He has been symptom free for over a month and recently resumed on ice workouts without problem.
Thomas = Stanley Cup hangover/not that talented to begin with, relies HEAVILY on the D system of Claude Julien.
Brodeur = .903 SV% last season, 1st losing season ever. Even with the post-all star surge he still posted poor save% and was only as good as the team in front of him.
Kipper = 2.63, .906 last season. Which is great by any means, and I don't see that getting any better. Calgary is pretty much the same ol team.
Howard = 2.79, .908 last season...What is there to love? Detroit did absolutely nothing to address it's defensive unit during the off-season. In fact, it got weaker with the loss of Rafalski.
In January, Reimer posted a 2.31 GAA and .932 SV%. In February, that dipped slightly to 2.36 and .926 SV%. In March? 2.87 GAA and .913 SV%. By the time April rolled around, we’re now at 2.94 GAA and .909 SV%. Certainly an obvious and potentially worrisome trend.
The same pattern emerges when looking at game-to-game statistics:
When starting with with 3+ days rest, Reimer posted a sparkling 1.81 GAA and .947 S%. However, with the benefit of 2 days rest, he impressed with a 2.05 GAA and .936 SV%. However, with only 1 days rest, Reimer produced an ugly 3.50 GAA and .895 SV%.
So yeah, no love for "Optimus Reim" until he proves he is worthy of such love. One good month doesn't impress me. Plus, he plays a big, blocking style, a la Steve Mason, Giguere, etc which the "new" NHL hasn't proven to be very friendly to.

Your evaluation of Reimer is laughable, as is this goalie ranking.
