Your waiver draft was "better" than mine and graded as such based purely on value of the players alone, not their significance or worth to the team. You already had a stock of defense men, you didn't NEED anymore. Those picks could have been spent better. And it does not matter what skaters you did or didn't have. There are 16+ others who can pick up the slack in their absence. 2-3 guys contribute to ALL of the goalie stats. If your #1 goes down, you might as well not even try. So I grab 1 extra D in the 9th round and all of a sudden I'm at a surplus? Again, you have 5, I have 6. Nobody else in the 9th round was worthy of a pick other than Marc Staal. If you're talking about my farm D, Subban can't finish the year with me anyway without occupying a keeper slot, unless he gets injured. I want to keep him for free, it's called good asset management. If he becomes the undeniable stud I expect him to become that may change during the year though, but for now I'll occupy that spot with another D. Are you suggesting I shouldn't have taken Edler? Or Pronger where I did? You said yourself Pronger was a huge steal and you were fuming others didn't take him before me. Maybe you should have managed your goalies better. If either of my goalies went down, or even both, I had my ass covered. Take a page out of my playbook and you might get better results without prayer. Hiller is more important to a team than Crosby or Parise because he's a goalie? Don't make me laugh.

Carolina is better than San Jose for one reason. You go on hilarious rants that entertain the hell out of me anytime someone questions your team. Therefore, since I need to be entertained by you Nos, Carolina will stay ahead.
Please continue your rants....

I am going to go with:
1A. San Jose* 1B. Ottawa 3. Calgary 4. Anaheim 5. Minnesota 6. Colorado 7. Winnipeg 8. Toronto 9. Washington 10. Carolina 11. Boston 12. Detroit
*IF Crosby plays, if not 1B
Spots 5-9 are WIDE open.
Ducks compete for the title if the current squad stays intact.
Colorado is much improved.
I Like what Winnipeg has done in the off-season.
Detroit can't even field an entire roster.

Anaheim has goaltending issues that will prevent a top 6 finish, otherwise a very solid team.

Anaheim has goaltending issues that will prevent a top 6 finish, otherwise a very solid team. Cam Ward 2010/11: 37 wins, 2.56 gaa, .923 sv%, 4 sho Kari Lehtonen 2010/11: 34 wins, 2.55 gaa, .914 sv%, 3 sho (most underrated goalie in the NHL) Marc-Andre Fleury 2010/11: 36 wins, 2.32 gaa, .918 gaa, 3 sho Semyon Varlamov 2010/11: 11 wins, 2.23 gaa, .924 gaa, 2 sho (in limited action) Mason = Wildcard. Columbus should be a much much more improved team this year. Even if Varlamov's stats take a slight hit in Colorado, the wins will be there. And while Mason might not revert back to rookie form, the Columbus team will make him look much better. I am not sold on Fleury being a 2.32 gaa goalie. I think he settles back somewhere closer to 2.50-2.60. If you look at his game log the 2nd half of the year and playoffs (with Crosby out) his numbers were very inconsistent and shaky. If Anaheim has goal tending issues, then so do you.

While Lehtonen was great last year, Dallas is going to be worse this season.
Colorado will be joining Dallas in the bottom 5 West teams, don't expect Varlamov to come close to last season's numbers on a strong Washington team.
Columbus could be a surprise playoff team, but still doesn't have a great defense and Mason was terrible last year.
Ward/Fleury vs Mason/Lehtonen/Varlamov isn't even close, I don't buy your argument.

Kesler out at least 2 months to start the season Kesler optimistic he'll be ready for openerMonday, 08.22.2011 / 1:19 PM / 2011 Offseason NewsBy Dan Rosen - NHL.com Senior WriterRyan Kesler remains optimistic he will be able to play in the Vancouver Canucks' season opener despite undergoing hip surgery only four weeks ago.
Kesler was given a time frame that included 10-12 weeks of rehab after he had the labrum in his hip repaired late last month. The Canucks open at home against Pittsburgh on Oct. 6.
"It's going good; small victories here and there," Kesler told Canucks TV from his hometown of Livonia, Mich. "I just got off my crutches and I'll start strengthening so everything is back to normal. I'll start skating here in the next couple of weeks and hopefully be back by that first game."
Kesler's history with hip labrum surgery suggests he might just make the opening night lineup. He had a similar surgery in January 2007 and returned 10 weeks later -- in time for the start of the playoffs. He was initially told he would be out anywhere from 12 to 16 weeks.
"I know what it takes. I know the rehab," Kesler said. "It might even make me braver to try things I probably shouldn't be trying, but it's going to make me come back quicker and hopefully I can play in that first game."
Kesler is coming off a career year in which he scored 41 goals and won the Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward.
Follow Dan Rosen on Twitter: @drosennhlRight, because so many players are quoted as saying "No, I won't be ready. No, I don't want to play, etc." Unfortunately whether or not Kesler plays is not up to Kesler. Good luck with that if he rushes himself back, especially since this is the 2nd time he has had the same surgery/injury. Expect career low numbers. You pray a lot don't you? [/size]

He's been cleared for contact bra, I can afford to be without him for a couple of weeks with my embarrassment of riches anyway.

Optimus Reim with the big, beastly shutout on opening night. Besting Carey Price. Atta boy. ...and then allowed 5 goals in one period to the offensive juggernaut that is the Ottawa Senators the next night. This is a true testament of his skill and to the inconsistency that will plague him all season.

He won the game. The Leafs defense needs to be better, stop leaving him out to dry for more than half the game. In that first game if it weren't for Optimus Reim the Leafs would have been blown away in the first period. One man can only do so much and he managed the win despite the Leafs own inconsistencies with system work and defense.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)—Ryan Kesler(notes) is healthy again and looking for another big year.
The Vancouver Canucks center, who scored 41 goals and won the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward last season, declared himself ready to return Monday—almost three months after surgery to repair a torn hip labrum. He will play his first game of the season on Tuesday night against the New York Rangers.
“My hip is 100 percent,” said Kesler, who won silver with Team USA at the 2010 Olympics. “I’m definitely not going out there to limp into the lineup. … I expect big things from myself.”
Kesler is a welcome addition to a 2-2-1 Canucks team that has struggled at times coming off the shortest offseason in franchise history. Vancouver lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals to Boston in mid-June.
Kesler has averaged 74 points the last two seasons as the Canucks’ second-line center, and set a new career best for goals last year after moving onto the top power-play unit. He practiced in both roles Monday for the first time since rejoining the team on the ice 12 days ago.
Coach Alain Vigneault thinks it will take time for Kesler to get up to game speed after missing all of training camp, but doesn’t expect the injury to be an issue.
“Ryan came to see me this morning and said he was 100 percent,” Vigneault said. “He assured me the injury was behind him and we weren’t going to see him limping and we weren’t going to see any `pain faces.’ He’s ready to go and we’re going to put him in.”
The 27-year-old Kesler pulled up lame in the final game of the Western Conference final against San Jose and limped off the ice. He returned to score the tying goal in the final seconds, and played all seven games in the Stanley Cup final. But he wasn’t the same, recording just one assist against the Bruins after seven goals and 18 points during his first 18 games of the playoffs.
Kesler, who is from Livonia, Mich., had similar hip surgery in 2007, but was back in the lineup for the playoffs just 10 weeks later. This recovery took more than two weeks longer.
“It definitely wasn’t easier,” Kesler said of being through the recovery once before. “It’s been a tough go seeing the team playing and things like that.
Kesler is expected to return with Cody Hodgson(notes), the 10th overall pick in 2008, on one side, and Chris Higgins(notes) on the other at even strength. The Canucks sent defenseman Chris Tanev(notes) to the American Hockey League to clear roster space.Less than two weeks from the season opener. Crosby cleared for contact. My offense was still the best in the league even without Crosby and Kesler. BEST. IN. THE. WOOOORLD!

01. Purcell doesn't even occupy a San Jose Sharks roster spot yet. 02. Purcell just scored a goal last night. 03. Purcell has 4 points in 5 games 'playing badly'. 04. Joe Thornton has 1 assist in 4 games.

Joe Thornton has 1 assist in 4 games. If you actually watched your player you would know that Purcell only has one real point. Just because he happens to be the 2nd to last person to touch the puck before a goal is scored is not an indication of skill. Both Purcell goals have been incredibly flukey. One from a very, very bad angle that trickled in on Vokoun, and the other shoved in the net by an opposing D-man. Obviously Guy Boucher doesn't see the same player you do, or care much about his 4 points in 5 games. The point here is, that, once again, you are wrong in your assessment of "talent." Purcell and Hedman suck.
