With the 11th Pick in the 1st Round of the 2006 NAFHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Senators select Luc Bourdon.I remember it just like it was yesterday. Barely able to roster a full set of defensemen, I hobbled into the Entry Draft with my eye one player and one player only: the most NHL ready defenseman in the draft. That defenseman just so happened to be Luc Bourdon. Picks 1-10 seemed to take an eternity to get through that year, and with every new pick that was made I held my breath before checking the Official Entry Draft Thread. As fate would have it, Luc fell to me at 11th overall (my first, 1st Round Entry selection ever) to fill the void I had on Defense. And while Luc only suited up for 36 games, the impact he had was so much greater. On that fateful day, we lost more than a defenseman I selected in the 1st Round of the 2006 Entry Draft, we lost a member of our hockey family. Full Article: canucks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=39841

Mmmm, just as I opened this thread the Starship Troopers main theme kicked in sending shivers down my spine combined with the memory of Luc. What a beast he was, went out like a rock star, I think of him ripping it on his awesome bike, wind in his hair, thrill seeking, doing what he loved. A true inspiration for us all to live life to its fullest and to not take anything for granted. He would have been a Kris Letang had he lived. I remember Derrick asking for my advice on Luc, being that I was a Vancouver boy, born and bred. I wasn't even part of this league when he asked for advice. Ahhh how time goes on... Life is very short and there's no tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime for fussing and fighting my friend. We still remember you Luc! Thanks for everything.
