imho I think how your saying the rule is, is how it should read, with it reading differently I feel it is causing some problems for sure......I signed players I did not have my wires crosses, how am I to stay active if everyone else signs prospects and I do not.....I can't. with us having issues with this type of thing(signing undrafted players) I feel this could have been avoided which im not sure what had happened here. and I and along with every other gm around here appreciates all the time you are putting into this(im a commish in another league and I know how much work it is) and I know it is hard to try to please everyone(it just cannot be done) but again what I am not understanding is how this rule is not clear after multiple mishaps. That might be one of the worst manglings of the English language I've ever seen. I have no idea what you said here. How are you supposed to stay active if everyone else signs prospects and you don't? First of all, huh? Second of all, when did being active necessarily include signing prospects? On a general note, we've been signing undrafted and previously drafted yet unsigned prospects for years now. I don't see what the complications are. Read it again, a little slower and im sure you will understand it just fine

the first of the sentence is saying: How Derrick is telling us the rule is exactly and it should say in the rule book. Right now it currently says differently(by differently I mean contradicting in parts) in the rule book that what he is saying. I signed players because if I don't sign players I wont be able to be competitive(not sure why I said active) with other teams who are signing players as well.
The Second paragraph goes on to say how im not sure how we have had so many issues in the past regarding this and for the rule book not to be completely sorted out in that specific section.
See not all that hard now is it?

This is silly. I mean come on. The first complication is understandable because the rule has really shitty wording, but Derrick clarified the clause. You then make moves and he corrects an error in procedure by quoting said rule. You in turn respond with "well if the rule is to be read literally..." pretending to ignore the already acknowledged wording problem and its subsequent clarification as if to say "Aha! Gotcha!" The reality is that he was not even saying you could not sign player x, but that you could not simply sign him to your main roster and would need to make room on your farm. You then fling accusations of rule manipulation and shit. Like I said, come on man.

Karlsson can not be signed yet whereas he is 27 years old, thus disqualifying him from prospect status.
Section 8, Rule D
D) No free agent signing is allowed before June 1. After keepers are submitted on June 1, any prospect not from the current year’s draft class, and with 10 games or less NHL experience may be signed to a mangers respective farm team providing there is an open roster spot. Open prospect signing will resume once the current years Prospect Draft has concluded.
