What do you guys think... Esposito too high at #3 overall? I wasn't sure when he'd last until because he is a wild card. I think he'll be very good or very mediocre.

Those were your only two picks weren't they? If you didn't take him then you wouldn't have had him. Slightly high maybe, it's tough to gauge how other managers are going to pick unless you know them well, but I think he'll be a solid player and has a great supporting cast.

The first 4 picks were what I expected. Chereaponov and Esposito weren't going to go late. In a draft like this people will go with the guys that have the most upside, and so far you too have made the right choices as far as I'm concerned.

Do you guys think anyone from the '07 draft will be in the NHL this year? I think Kane has a good shot at making Chicago, Cherepanov will stay in Russia this year, and I'd expect Esposito will just miss making the team.

Kane is way too small to play in the NHL next year. He needs another year to strengthen up his legs and core. Plus, London needs him!

Out of the big names, I think Hamill has the best shot at playing this season. I don't think many of the other guys are ready, Kane might play but I wouldn't expect much in his rookie season. As far as Esposito, not this season.

Tough to say, I don't think anybody is truly ready, but I'd actually say Voracek is the most NHL ready at the moment.

wow, Ryan Callahan getting selected in the 1st rd of the prospects draft? I'll be honest and say I had him as a mid-round sleeper pick in the waiver draft, but I didn't realize someone might take him in this draft.

It's a weak draft year, gotta do what you gotta do. I didn't figure he'd be around for my 3rd round pick so I jumped the gun a tad early. Had Aubrey passed on Hamill, I might not have. I can just about gaurantee someone was going to take him in this draft though.

I was going to sign him as a prospect FA over a month ago, but he played 14 games last year and the limit for signing was 10. Honestly, I didn't even realize he could've been drafted until you took him.

I'm curious, what do you guys think of the recent trade between Jesse and I?

Since I'm not a big Mike Smith fan (I think he won't be much better than a good backup or 1A goalie at best), IMO the deal is basically Svatos for Montoya. Personally, I don't like to trade prospect goalies since their value goes dramatically up once they reach the NHL or are close to reaching the NHL.
Montoya is a stud in a bad situation being stuck behind Lundqvist. Svatos is an injury-prone but talented sniper. Its a pretty even deal, but Jesse wins the deal for the next two seasons or so since a healthy Svatos can produce 30+ goals now, but I think I'd give a slight nod to Nos in the long term because I see Montoya eventually getting dealt and becoming a solid #1 goalie. So I guess the deal is a toss up of win today or win tomorrow. I suppose both parties got what they wanted and are happy.

Is it just me or does the prospect draft seem to be going by pretty quickly? It could just be me, though, since I stopped seriously paying attention to the draft after like the 5th or 6th overall pick because I had no more picks to make. I guess that happens when you only have 2 picks in the top 3

So has it been going as everyone has thought, I didn't think McCabe or Schenider would get chosen as early as they did.
